Educators Raise Awareness! National Child Abuse Prevention Month!

Its time to step up for our youth & our city’s educators agree! So we at Alterra Realty Group want to shed light on community awareness & help support safe, happy childhoods by educating people about the dangers of child abuse and steps that can be taken to prevent it. Firstly, All children deserve to grow up in a caring and loving environment. That’s just the truth of the matter. Yet somehow across America, hundreds of thousands of children are being neglected or abused each year.
Study’s have shown that one in every three girls and one in every five boys will be sexually abused before the age of 18. Study’s also have shown according to statistics, that between four and eight children die every single day from abuse or neglect. Together we can prevent these tragedies from occurring!
Let us aim to eradicate child abuse from our society, and let us secure a future for our children that is bright and full of hope & opportunity!

Of course, school is the only place outside the home in which most children are seen daily. Which means our educators have the opportunity to see changes in their appearance and behavior. Because of this, The Florida Department of Education mandates child abuse training for all new teachers, and Broward County Public Schools also requires this training for all experienced staff who are new to our school district.

State law, Florida statute 39 requires mandatory reporting of known or suspected child abuse, abandonment, or neglect. Florida statute 415 requires mandatory reporting of known or suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of adult disabled students. So please, become familiar with Florida’s child abuse law. (F.S. 39) Be a resource to the school principal and other school personnel in his/her school to identify child abuse and neglect, and to facilitate the reporting process. Provide support services to teachers and school personnel who must deal with abused/neglected or abandoned children in the school setting. & If you know of anybody going through these tragic events, we also ask that you help us on our journey in keeping our children safe!
